What we do
The ASA is a non-profit International Club representing Stabyhoun owners and breeders in the
United States and Canada. Our goal is to protect and advance the current standard of the breed
as approved by the Dutch Stabyhoun Association and adopted by the FCI (Federation Cynologique
Internationale) as the only standard of excellence by which the Stabyhoun shall be judged. Our
organization is a wholly-recognized partner of the Dutch Stabij and Wetterhoun Association
having a mutual interest in maintaining the highest breeding standards of the pure bred
Stabyhoun. We will conduct sanctioned matches, national specialty shows, and obedience and field
trials with our members to maintain the Dutch Standard.
From the Dutch Stabyhoun Association (NVSW)
“The ASA represents every region in North American branch of the Stabyhoun Associations with a concentration on the East Coast and major metropolitan areas elsewhere. “Mother” is the Dutch NVSW, with wholly-recognized daughters in the USA, Canada, Norway, Finland, UK, Sweden and Denmark. The foreign
associations work together to keep the Stabijhoun a healthy, friendly and beautiful breed. Information is
shared about health issues, kept in a database with more than 18,000 Stabyhoun! Breeding plans are
screened by the ASA and advised by the NVSW in full cooperation. Join us in keeping our Stabijhoun healthy
by being a member!!!! “– the NVSW

The events were huge successes thanks to the contributions of our Dutch Judges and guests. Knowing that our
breed is properly evaluated by those judges that thoroughly understand the original Dutch standard is essential
to the success of developing the breed here in America and Canada. The NVSW, the Dutch Association, even
donated our Best of Breed awards!
